UVcell Solar Partners to Develop Green Energy in Cambodia and Export to Singapore

[Vancouver, BC, May 10th, 2024] – UVcell Solar, a leading full-service, large-scale solar solutions provider, is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Global Crypto Trading Hub Co. LTD (GCTH) and NE Solar for the joint development of an independent power producer (IPP) in Cambodia. The purpose of this historic MOU is to generate solar electricity for domestic use while reducing imports from nearby countries. It also supports Cambodia’s strategy of selling electricity to Singapore by establishing a submarine connection that will run through Malaysia.

Dr. Seang Bunleang, advisor to the Prime Minister of Cambodia, and the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Interior led the signing ceremony at Sokha Hotel in Phnom Penh on May 7, 2024. The newly formed green energy company supports the Cambodian government’s commitment to reduce pollution and achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. The solar energy projects in Cambodia includes the construction of solar energy farms, storage, and management systems.

“This initiative is at the heart of what UVcell Solar stands for—innovation, sustainability, and global collaboration,” said Steven Lee, CEO of UVcell Solar. “By joining forces with GCTH and NE Solar, we are not only aiming to meet the growing energy needs of Cambodia but also setting new standards in the regional energy market.”

ASEAN’s Vision for a Sustainable Energy Future

In addition to boosting green energy production in Cambodia, it also strengthens the ASEAN power network, facilitating energy trade and environmental sustainability across Cambodia, Malaysia, and Singapore. This aligns with the broader ASEAN Community Connectivity Master Plan 2025, emphasizing multilateral cooperation and regional development.

As a first step following the MoU, companies and their partners have agreed to conduct a full feasibility study and marine survey. The survey will gather data on the geographical features, water characteristics, and power generation capacities of the specified locations. The cable project work will begin in June and continue through the end of 2024.
